Al B. Sharp VS Wild, Wild West

Al B. Sharp VS Wild, Wild West!

‘Obama shouldn’t have to lead a Civil Rights March against Himself…’

-Rev. Al Sharpton

BIG Words. LOUD Words. FRUSTRATED Words. CONSTERNATING Words. WORDS from two of the Most Influential African-American Voices in America today. As I viewed the video of their exchange on MSNBC, it
brought to mind how divided We are as a Country and definitely as a race. Rev. Sharpton has his ideas and Dr. West has his. Who’s to say which of these two Voices is right or wrong, neither of them is really, but it comes down to who made the most logical point.

Rev. Sharpton spoke on how We should not place the blame on President Obama for the job market and the unemployment rate because it is not his fault. President Obama does not regulate the jobs, the people that own the companies and corporations are the ones that regulate and have the POWER to stimulate the job market. As President, all that Obama can do is try to PERSUADE these individuals to create jobs and bring about job market STIMULATION. Rev. Sharpton also made a valid point when he said, ‘The People need to stand up and make their Voices heard to the individuals with POWER over these companies instead of continually pointing the
finger at and blaming President Obama…But the TRUTH is that they are SCARED to do that…And, ‘If the People are SCARED, say that they are SCARED…’ because blaming Obama isn’t going to bring about the results that We seek.’
I feel, as Rev. Sharpton feels, that, President Obama is doing his best to make sure that things are done EQUALLY across the board for ALL People, not any specific race or group because this Country and Nation is a place of many Cultures, Races and Peoples, and as President he has to STAND for ALL not ONE…

Dr. West had some valid points as well but I noticed that most of his statements were a bit RACIALLY CHARGED. I mean, I am ALL about STANDING up for Ones Race or what One believes but this is simply not a matter of Race, this is a matter of Humankind as a Whole, the BETTERMENT of everyone. The unemployment rate in not just affecting African-Americans but every Race, it does not DISCRIMINATE and We should see it as such. Yes, there are times when it seems as if President Obama should have stood his ground when it came to certain topics but turning this into a ‘BLACK THING’ or a ‘RACIAL THING’ is not what is needed right now. The statements that Dr. West had about, ‘Critiquing President Obama…’ and ‘The number of Blacks that have been pulled over by Police in NY…’ and ‘Worrying about Rev. Sharpton being manipulated by the White House and PlutoCrats…,’ discuss those topics in other venues but not in this one. This should not be turned into a situation of, ‘We NOW have a Black or African-American President so We, Blacks, as a Race should be receiving Our ’40ACRES and A MULE!’ Our ‘REPARATIONS!’ And…Honestly, if We got them what would We do with them if We are IGNORANT of what to do with what We have been Blessed with at Present. Another thing is, ‘If ALL One wants is a Mule and some Acreage, their Goals and Aspirations are pretty Minimal!’

Both Rev. Sharpton and Dr. West have and continue to make Great contributions to Our Society, Country and the African-American Race through their beliefs and what they STAND for, and I ADMIRE and gain INSPIRATION from them both but with the topic or issue being unemployment and job market stimulation, the idea or job is to get Our Country not simply ‘Back On Track’ but on ‘The BEST Track its Ever Travelled ON,’ bringing about jobs and employment for ALL…EQUALLY…And, we will only achieve this feat by PERSUADING the People with the POWER over job market stimulation and not by Blaming or Pointing the Finger at Our President…

My Friend…My Reader…President Obama isn’t PERFECT and He’s doing what He can with the tools He’s provided…

Like Rev. Sharpton said, ‘Why should President Obama lead a Civil Rights March against Himself?’

‘Rev. Sharpton and Dr. West…Thank You both for the Words and the Inspiration. The work that You do is Priceless, Appreciated and Admirable.’

The UNION Is In A STATE…

The UNION Is In A STATE…

During President Obama’s State of the Union Address this Evening, January 25, 2011, he will discuss investing and or spending, and the topic of investing/spending for Education will most likely come up. This topic of discussion seems to have caused some consternation amongst Republicans in past months because they don’t see the need for investing/spending on education. This to Me is ridiculous because it seems that EDUCATION should be at the top of the list of things to invest in for America. Educational Investing/Spending would allow everyone to get an optimal education making America, and Americans, more competitive in a World market and putting individuals in a better position as far as being prepared to handle or live everyday life.

‘Why shouldn’t everyone have the best Education they can get?’

I’ve heard it said that some don’t want the ‘minorities’ in America to have the BEST Education that they can receive because it makes them too competitive in our Society and causes them the chance to advance. Minorities should just continue to be IGNORANT, never have Unity and continue committing GENOCIDE through violence, drugs and sex. ‘Competing with whom? Other Americans…?’  I hear this and Pray that it’s not a TRUTH, that it’s only Blindness in the eyes of a few, but then I’m most likely ‘Hoping Against Hope’ and will be the one that is Blind…

If the statement that I heard is TRUTH its Terrifyingly Sad but what’s more Saddening than that is the fact that Minorities fall for it or play right into it because of their actions and the way that they choose to live. Now I understand that a lot of individuals amongst the number of Minorities believe that they have to choose the way of life they live because ‘someone’ is holding them back from obtaining an Education and allowing them the opportunity to advance in life but this type of thinking or belief has to STOP or CHANGE because as long as Minorities have this mindset, knowing that another person or group doing ALL that they can to hold another back is Wrong and the fact of Minorities BELIEVING it as TRUTH amongst themselves is Wrong, things will never CHANGE or get better.

When we, Minorities or anyone for that matter, sees that they are being WRONGED by another it is not the time to be quiet and just allow it to happen, believing it as TRUTH and playing into it…Its time to stand and do ALL that you can in a Civilized and Peaceful manner to find a resolution that will work for ALL involved.  As long as Minorities continue to do as they have done and continue to do at present, playing into the LIE and making it TRUTH amongst their numbers, not saying to themselves, ‘This is enough! This cannot be the way things are supposed to be! It’s time to take a stand and bring about a CHANGE for the better for ALL,’ things won’t CHANGE, like President Obama hoped and pressed for in his campaign and Education will not be what America chooses to Invest or Spend its money on.

And, anyone that has the belief that ‘You will be better off by holding another back, whether individual or group, by whatever means you try to stop their progression,’ you are Wrong for thinking you should or could do this to another and your ‘COMEUPPANCE’ is around the bend.

People…America…We need to ‘Wake Up,’ come together in Unity and bring about a CHANGE for us ALL or we’ll forever be LOST!

On The Mall…

On The Mall

Thousands of People

No Face the same as the One

Next to it

Not Shopping for Things…Not Shopping at All

But Seeking…Seeking for a Word

Awaiting a Word

From a Man

A Leader…A Visionary

A Prophet…A Deliverer

And, at the same time a Threat

Ears listening

Anxiously…In the Silence

Among so Many

Then…

‘I Have A Dream…’

Breaks the Silence to Fall upon Ears

Ears that aren’t Deaf

Ears that long to Hear

Ears belonging to a People that know there is a Better Way

Listen…

The Words of Dr. King still resonate Today

What MOUNTAINTOP?

WHAT MOUNTAINTOP?

-‘We have reached the Mountaintop?’

-Statement uttered by many African-Americans when Barack Obama won the Presidency

The above statement being proclaimed by many, especially African-Americans, when Barack Obama won the Presidency as our first African-American President was a very positive and courageous proclamation but in the excitement of it all, little did We know that, not only had We not reached the Mountaintop but the Mountaintop was not even in view. Many individuals from across the spectrum of races worked together to put Obama into the White House but record numbers of African-Americans turned out to vote to solidify his winning of the Presidency so as to see history made in this country and to see our first African-American President, but the question is; ‘For what reason did African-Americans do this?’

During the many months of Barack Obama’s campaign and run for office African-Americans jumped onboard the ‘Obama Train’ because his being African-American gave them a sense of, ‘Maybe this is our time and this is the Man who will finally give us our due.’ So, they went out in a plethora of numbers to make sure his winning the Presidency would happen. Not that all African-Americans had this mindset, because some African-Americans were not blinded by race, the need to get their due, the need to get a ‘revenge’ of some sort for past hurts and mistreatments or the need for an ego boost, some African-Americans were truly behind Obama, his views, what he stood for and the CHANGE that he wanted for this country and our World. They knew that his being President would not mean that he would stand up in front of the country, a country of many different races and only make things ‘right’ for African-Americans but that he would work to make things ‘right’ for everyone.

After Obama’s solidification of the office of President and after a few months of his running the country, many of those African-Americans that were so adamant about getting him into office turned their backs on him after they saw that he was not going to give them their ’40 Acres and a Mule,’ or the due that was owed them after all the years of struggle and mistreatment or after finding that he wasn’t ‘BLACK’ enough as an African-American President. These same African-Americans that turned their backs on President Obama were the same ones shouting and proclaiming, with tears of joy, ‘We have reached the Mountaintop…,’ at his winning the Presidency.

A sad case indeed…

Like I said previously, this was a positive and courageous proclamation on their parts but We had in no way reached the Mountaintop, We had only been given an individual to lead us to the Mountaintop. We were and still continue to be at the foot of the Mountain fighting about how to get to the top. To reach the Mountaintop, We have to want to follow the leader that has been placed there to lead us and not for the wrong reasons. We have to choose to come together in unity and on one accord, not being so divided, jealous, envious and hateful towards one another. We as African-Americans, and any other race, have to work together to reach the pinnacle of the Mountain or We will never get there, no matter who our leader is. Whether African-American President, Caucasian President, Latino President or Indian President, it is up to us to come together first and for the RIGHT reasons to reach our destiny and as long as We are of the mindset We are of at present, which is a ‘SLAVERY MINDSET,’ We will never reach the Mountaintop We seek to reach.

Obama’s being President should open all of our eyes to the ills of our country and World, especially African-Americans and allow it to illustrate to us the fact that our country, our society, our World and definitely not ‘Our People,’ African-Americans have CHANGED or are ready for the CHANGE that Barack Obama spearheaded his campaign and run for President on.

My Friend…My People…Let’s get it together, by coming together and making things work for Us ALL as a race, as a country, as a society, as a World, supporting one another and our President, our leader by understanding what he is doing as a whole and how he is wanting to and working to bring about a CHANGE for us ALL and not just Us, African-Americans individually.

Until you CHANGE your mind about this and release yourself from your own ‘self-made SLAVERY’ We cannot proclaim…

‘We have reached the Mountaintop!’

What Mountaintop?
