Embracing the Mystery

When all the words have been written, and all the phrases have been spoken, the great mystery of life will still remain. We may map the terrains of our
lives, measure the farthest reaches of the universe, but no amount of searching will ever reveal for certain whether we are all children of chance or part of a
great design.

And who among us would have it otherwise? Who would wish to take the mystery out of the experience of looking into a newborn infant’s eyes? Who would not feel in violation of something great if we had knowledge of what has departed when we stare into the face of one who has died? These are the events that made us human, that define the distance between the stars and us.

Still, this life is not easy. Much of its mystery is darkness. Tragedies occur, injustices exist. Bad things befall good people and sufferings are visited upon the innocent. To live we must take the lives of other species, to survive we must leave some of our brothers and sisters by the side of the road. We are prisoners of time, victims of biology, hostages of our own capacity to dream.

At times it all seems too much, impossible to accept.

We must stand against this. The world is a great mysterious place, and it’s possibilities are infinite, governed only by what our hearts can conceive. If we incline our hearts towards the darkness, we will see darkness. If we incline them toward the light, we will see the light.

Those of great heart have always known this. They have understood that, as honorable as it is to see the wrong and try to correct it, a life well lived must somehow celebrate the promise that life provides. The darkness at the limits of our knowledge; the darkness that sometimes seem to surround us is merely a way to make us reach beyond certainty, to make our lives a witness to hope, a testimony to possibility, an urge toward the best and the most honorable impulses that our hearts can conceive.

It is not hard. There is in each of us, no matter how humble, a capacity for love. Even if our lives have not taken the course we had envisioned, even if we are less than the shape of our dreams, we are part of the human family. Somewhere, in the most inconsequential corners of our lives, is the opportunity for love.

If I am blind, I can run my hand across the back of a shell and celebrate beauty. If I have no legs, I can sit in quiet wonder before the restless murmurs of the sea. If I am wounded in spirit, I can reach out my hand to those who are hurting. If I am lonely, I can go among those who are desperate for love. There is no tragedy or injustice so great, no life so small and inconsequential, that we cannot bear witness to the light in the quiet acts and hidden moments of our days.

And who can say which of these acts and moments will make a difference? The universe is vast and is a magical membrane of meaning, stretching across time and space, and it is not given to us to know her secrets and her ways. Perhaps we were placed here to meet the challenge of a single moment; perhaps the touch we give will cause the touch that will change the world.

‘At times, other’s Words speak better for you than your Words can.’ I didn’t Write these Words but after I came across them I had to publish them here for others to read and Marvel/Ponder at.

My Friends, Embrace the Mystery

Human Maps

I was reading over some New Poems and wanted to share this one with You until I put the finishing touches on My next post. Enjoy, My Friends…

Human Maps

Lines

Routes

Paths

Not Drawn upon Paper

But Sketched upon Human Bodies

Tattooed upon Skin

Maps Drawn over the Years

Living Hieroglyphics

Not Painted upon Cave walls

Or Drawn on the angles of Pyramids

By Neanderthals or Egyptians

Painted Naturally through Living

Being Alive

Not by the strokes of a Brush in Hand

After being bathed in Color

War Wounds…

Markings of Life…

Upon Skin

Human Lines

Human Routes

Human Paths

CHEESE…Everything Is Better With CHEESE On Top

CHEESE…Everything Is Better With CHEESE On Top

-‘A SMILE…Is it the Question or the Answer?’

                                    -Lee Smith

CHEESE…Who doesn’t LOVE CHEESE? All over a Pizza, on top of a ‘Mouth-Watering Burger,’ covering Eggs in the Morning, topping Toast, paired with Wine and Crusty Breads, entangled within Macaroni, as a Pool for foods to take a Swim in while Fondue Dipping or as a simple Snack. I don’t know of too many People that don’t LOVE CHEESE. It’s just So Good and in most cases ‘Good for You!’

As I ponder CHEESE and My LOVE for its ‘Pungent, Tart, Creamy, Sweetness’ it brings to Mind the idea of CHEESE in another sense…

You know that Image that We see upon People’s faces when they are Happy, Joyful, Elated, ‘Feeling Good…’ You know? When they are posing for a Picture, they Flash that part of them that Opens up their Hearts…You know, You hear it ALL of the time right before the Camera’s button is pushed or the Flash burst to capture the image, ‘Say…CHEESE!’ Yes…That’s it…The SMILE! Or as We so often refer to it, ‘CHEESING!’

A SMILE…Now, that is the CHEESE that I LOVE to see on Top more than any other type of CHEESE!

Me, Myself… I am a Naturally Smiling Person and I LOVE flashing a Smile at everyone that I meet because it shows that I am open to receiving Smiles and it also shows that I am not an Angry or Unhappy Person. As I go about Life and the Day to Day activities, meeting People in passing along the way, I notice that so many People wear Frowns or Perpetual ‘Mean Mugs’ on their faces instead of SMILES, moving Me to ask the question, ‘Is Life that Bad?’ ‘Is there something that these People know that I don’t that causes them to Frown instead of SMILE?’ ‘Am I Crazy for My LOVE of SMILING and wearing a SMILE?’ ‘Should I wear a Frown too?’ ‘What’s wrong with the World today?’ ‘Why are We so Angry?’ ‘Why won’t You SMILE?’

I guess I just don’t understand why People don’t want to project the BETTER side of themselves by SMILING or wearing a Happy or more Welcoming look upon their faces. We walk around in today’s Society as if We are Angry at everyone and everything, as if someone just told Us that things will never get any BETTER or as if We just Lost Our last Friend. Living this way makes it seem as if We are a Society of Unhappy individuals that are simply passing the Days away and not Enjoying the Moments that GOD gives Us. This alone should be reason to wear a SMILE instead of Frowning…

It used to be Proclaimed that ‘A SMILE is Contagious!’ If only that were TRUE today…

My Friend… My Reader….SMILE! Put some CHEESE on TOP!!! It’s so much BETTER to SMILE and allow Your face to Shine in the presence of others and have it say to them, ‘Hey! Life is Great! Here’s a SMILE for You! Enjoy it!’ and hopefully it will be as Contagious as the Flu, affecting Everyone for the BETTER!

‘I feel that a SMILE is the Answer to the Question…’

SUNSETS…BEAUTIFUL…

‘Thought that I would take a moment this Morning and share something else with you that I LOVE ‘almost’ as much as Writing and that is noticing Beautiful Scenes, especially Sunsets and capturing the scene in Picture…’

(ALL shots captured with My LG Ally)

Forever Sunset

I long for a relationship

That is a Forever Sunset

Where the lights are dim
The colors dance together

All is aligned and perfect

Quietness begins to set in

With the relaxation of body and mind

The soft music begins to play

The Sun and the Earth share a kiss

As the fragrance of the night wafts on the breeze

A Forever Sunset…

That’s what I long for my relationship to be

Just Going Through The Motions

Just Going Through The Motions

As I sat in church service on Sunday, the thought came to Me concerning the issue of people attending church just because it’s Sunday and that’s just what they do on the Sabbath, in other words ‘Just Going through the Motions.’ I said to Myself, ‘I wonder how many of the people in attendance are really here to get a Word from GOD?’ ‘How many of these people are actually hearing the Word and applying it to their lives?’ ‘How many of these people are singing these songs and really meaning the Words that they are singing?’ How many people are truly Praying sincerely from the Heart?’ ‘If I asked a number of the people in church service what they actually heard today in the message, when service was over, how many of them could actually tell Me what they heard?’

As I sat there listening to the message and absorbing ALL that I heard to use later and apply to My life, I said to Myself how sad it was that most of the people, I mean… Christians, in service were doing just that ‘Going Through the Motions,’ with the lifting of their hands, the singing of songs, the shaking of hands, the bowing of their heads, the clapping of their hands, the closing of their eyes, the praying of Prayers and the Amen-ing of Amens. I would say that you could probably count the number of TRUE worshipers, not simply ‘Going Through the Motions’ on one hand.

What have we come to?

It’s a TERRIBLE thing that this is going on in Church but ‘Just Going Through the Motions’ is happening in every area of Our lives, day after day. We go through Life waking up in the Morning ‘Going Through the Motions’ preparing for our day….

‘Going Through the Motions’ on our jobs and in our careers not enjoying one moment of it…

‘Going Through the Motions’ in our marriages and in our relationships with others because we have become
accustomed to the people in our lives ‘just’ being there and taking their presence for granted…

‘Going Through the Motions’ with our families and the ones we LOVE, taking for granted that they know we LOVE them because we are a part of their lives and hardly ‘ever’ saying to them how we Care and that we LOVE them…

‘Going Through the Motions’ speaking to others we meet, asking ‘How are you?’ and not stopping to hear their reply…

‘Going Through the Motions’ saying how we hate Wrong and Sin but not doing anything to CHANGE the Wrongs to Rights and continuing to commit Sins ourselves…

‘Going Through the Motions’ of Praying that GOD will Bless us but not having any intention of doing what we
need to do to become that ‘ONE‘ that GOD will Bless…

‘Just Going Through the Motions’ is just a LIE that we are telling ourselves and everyone around us but we are ALL so engrossed in the LIE, that we are ignorant to the fact that we are even ‘Going Through the Motions’ in most of the things we do. We need to wake up and Enjoy Our Lives, really give of Ourselves to those in Our Lives and show that we are not taking them for granted, stand up for what is Right and hate Sin, so that we can do away with the Wrongs we witness day to day and most of ALL, STOP ‘Just Going Through the Motions’ when it comes to GOD and truly give Ourselves, Our Lives and Hearts to HIM so that Our Lives, the Lives of others and Our World as a whole will be the BEST it can be.

My Friend…Are you ‘Just Going Through the Motions’ in any area of your Life? If you are, I hope that you notice it and Change it soon because…

‘Life is too Important to ‘Just Go Through the Motions!’

Smile Lines…It’s All Natural Process…

Smile Lines…It’s All Natural Process…

“I wanna be Old and Gray when GOD come get Me…”

                                                                -Ceelo ‘GoodieMob’ Green

Growing Old…I’m sorry…Correction. ‘Growing OLDER,’ is something that we should ALL embrace and see as a gift and a Blessing from GOD. It is GOD’s gift to us and HIS telling us that HE has more work for us to do in this World and that HE wants us around to educate and teach those generations following us. Growing OLDER is our mark of Wisdom and our ‘seasoning’ that GOD prints upon us to show that we have been here for awhile and that we are not to be reckoned with. Growing OLDER is a ‘Tattoo of LOVE.’

The lines printed upon our faces like maps drawn by Men, the Graying of our hair like paths through the Forests, the Words of Wisdom that we speak that may be foreign to the Youth, the Ideals that we take on that we never Dreamed we would, the ways that we move as we grow OLDER, are ALL gifts and should be seen as such. I witness a majority of humans not embracing their gift of aging as they color their hair…As they have surgery done to remove the lines in their faces…As they dress in a way that is years younger than they are…As they try their BEST to stay young or to hide their true age. Now, to each his or her own, and there is nothing wrong with doing those things, but I feel that GOD meant for us to appreciate our Growing OLDER, our aging and to feel confident and comfortable with it, not to hide it or be ashamed of it. Some of us sit back and say how much we want to live a long life but as GOD grants us those long years and allows us to age we sort of ‘throw it back in HIS face’ by trying to cover it up, by doing things to keep ourselves looking young.

It’s true that in today’s Society, especially in America, that Growing OLDER is not seen as Glamorous, or Beautiful, or Welcomed, or even as ‘A Good Thing.’ Youth and staying Young are the status quo in our World. How sad, because GOD created us to be Young at the beginning of our lives and to Grow OLDER as our years progressed and with that progression of our years, to embrace it fully.

There are countries and Cultures that see Growing OLDER as a Beautiful thing and that the OLDER individuals are Sacred and due total respect because of their experiences in life and their Seasoning, where Growing OLDER is welcomed and looked forward to. We should ALL see it as such and LOVE not only the idea of it but the image of it as well. We should see our facial lines as gifts, our Gray-Streaked hair as Blessings, our Wisdom as GOD’s mark of Genius.

I LOVE Growing OLDER and I embrace it. I see it as Beautiful, Romantic and Sexy. As we Grow OLDER, let’s do ALL that we can to stay healthy and stay around as long as possible but let’s embrace our years of life with confidence and see them as a Gift from GOD, seeing the True BEAUTY in it.

I hope that You Grow OLDER…Gracefully and with Courage.

“You can tell by the lines under my eyes when I Smile that I have been around for awhile…”

                                                                                                                                                                      From the song ‘Smile Lines’

At The Speed Of Sound…

At The Speed Of Sound…

The sound of the ticking of time catches my ear, as I look up at the clock to find that it has already passed me by. There was once a time when time was not akin to an airplane’s passing overhead, hearing the sound, as the airplane passes over and looking up into the Sky, only to find it’s entrails that have been left in its wake, along with the sound of its passing by. Following it’s entrails of smoke, after burn, you come to find that the plane is much farther ahead of the sound that you hear. In the case of the airplane’s passing overhead, you tend to be able to follow the entrails, like a path, that leads you in the direction that the airplane has gone. If only time was that way…

In the present day it seems as though time passes so very quickly. There seems to never be enough time to perform all of the tasks at hand during the day and there seems to never be enough time to get the rest we require during the night. We set out each morning with plans for the day, we get busy with those plans and time escapes us before we see those daily plans come to fruition. At night, we lay our heads down for rest and awaken to the daylight, it seems, as soon as we have settled in to sleep. We go about our lives, day to day, busy with work, family, schooling, friends and making future plans, only to look up and find that time has passed us by all too fast. Our work has become something we simply become accustomed to performing, our children have become teens, our family has grown and moved on, our friends have come and gone, we obtain degrees and diplomas and our future plans come and go as we look up and ask ourselves, “Where has the time gone? Time seems to pass us by so quickly…”

I can remember in days past, as a child, the days seeming to linger on and the nights seeming to stretch for hours. Time seeming to stand still. Now, as I’ve grown older, it seems as though the days and nights fly by like that airplane overhead. Time never standing still, only ticking at a quickened pace, beckoning to us to pause sometime and enjoy it, because if we don’t stop to enjoy the time we are given we will definitely miss it. It will have passed us by and even though we can hear it tick away, with the movement of the hands on the clock, there are no trails left behind by time for us to follow so that we can find where it has gone.

No matter what we may do in our lives, we should take the time to enjoy the moments we are given by GOD before they are gone. I have no idea if time is actually passing by faster or if there are so many things that have our attention in today’s World that we tend to miss time because we are simply too busy, but we all need to slow down and try to witness some of the time we are given. If we don’t, we’ll be looking to the Skies to remind us that time passes at the Speed of Sound.

Take the time to enjoy it before it’s gone…
