‘That Thing That We FEAR But Sets Us FREE…’

‘…We Live in a Time where TRUTH has Stumbled in the Streets and Dishonesty ‘Runs Amok’…Where We accept Lies, KNOWING that they are Lies and Deny the TRUTHS…Where We tend to LOVE what’s Wrong but Hate what’s RIGHT…Where We are Afraid to be labeled ‘Too Christian’ but not Afraid to be labeled ‘Too Worldly’…Where we Throw Our INTEGRITY into the Wind but Holdfast to Our Sinful and Worldly Ways…We Live in a Time where We can’t see Ourselves because We have worked so Diligently to Be Someone or Something Else…We Live in a Time where We are Always COMPARING Ourselves to Others so as to be an -ER or an -EST among them and the TRUTH is, ‘There is No WIN in COMPARISON!’…We Live in a Time where ‘TRUTH has Stumbled in the Streets and it’s Time for it to Rise Again…’

MLK for Today?

Listening to the radio the other day on the way to work there was a discussion about who was, would be or is the MLK for today in the Light of the unvailing of the MLK Memorial in Washington, DC. The words spoken were mixed and definitely opinionated. As I listened I wondered Myself if there was anyone alive today that was that Courageous and Strong enough to endure the type of opposition that King endured while he was alive and persevered to get his message of Equality and LOVE out to the people. It will take an Individual that is LOVING, Kind, GODLY, Strong, Courageous, Willing,’For ALL People,’ Compassionate, Not Afraid to speak the TRUTH to the Masses eventhough it might bring them Opposition and Being talked about…’ One that is not about THEMSELF or Selfish and more about the Well-Being and Betterment of others.

Martin Luthr King, Jr. was this type of individual that possessed the Heart,Soul and Soft-Spirit that was needed to bring about the Change that was needed to better the lives of ALL individuals. In today’s Society and World, I just don’t know if there is one that exist that is Selfless enough, Courageous enough, Strong enough, LOVING enough to step up and do what MLK did in his time. Yes, there are many that walk around from day to day preaching a Good game but they don’t TRULY exhibit the character to be able to endure and persevere in the face of Opposition and Hatred from the people.

Has GOD Created an MLK for Our present day? If HE has is it just not time for He/She to be revealed? Is that individual afraid to step up and speak up because of the opposition they will be met with? Is that individual already in Our midst, doing their job but We just are too Ignorant to WANT hear them?…

We definitely need an MLK for today because We may be somewhat better off but We as Human Beings have a long way to go before We can say any of Us have ‘Reached the Mountaintop’ as Individuals, Groups, a People, a Race/Races or a Society or World with ALL of the ILLS that We face and witness in Our present day.

My Friends, let’s Pray for an MLK to speak to Us and Enlighten Us to the TRUTH of where We should be and what GOD wants for Us as a Whole.

STRONGER THAN DEATH

STRONGER THAN DEATH

-‘One has to find something in their Life that they Stand for that is Stronger than DEATH and with that…DEATH will
have no Power over them…’

                                                                                                -Otis Moss, Jr.

Sitting amongst the congregation during Easter Morning Services on yesterday and listening to the message delivered by Otis Moss, Jr. and hearing him speak on the topic of finding something in Your Life that is ‘Stronger than DEATH,’ which was a Metaphor for Christ’s being crucified for Living a Life of TRUTH and Righteousness and speaking Words that were against what many Believed, then Arising from the Dead after Living a Life of TRUTH and Righteousness, doing His Father’s Work and that being His ‘SOMETHING’ that He stood for that was Stronger than DEATH and that which in turn led Him to His DEATH upon the Cross, I began to think about what is it that I STOOD for in My Life that, to Me, is ‘Stronger than DEATH’ that keeps Me going or doing that SOMETHING no matter what opposition I come against…

As Mr. Moss continued speaking he spoke about Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and his battle for Civil Rights  and Equality for ALL and how this battle was Dr. King’s SOMETHING that was ‘Stronger than DEATH’ in his Life. During Dr. King’s battle for the Equal Rights of ALL he was met with Great opposition from those that did not want or Believe the same things he did and from those that did not WANT to hear the TRUTH. Mr. Moss spoke about Dr. King’s imprisonment and how he would not give up the battle even when DEATH was staring him in the face…

As I continued to listen to the message the idea crossed My mind that the DEATH doesn’t have to be the DEATH where Our Lives come to an End, which is what Mr. Moss was speaking on, I thought about the fact that it could be the DEATH of a Friendship, Relationship, Partnership, Union or any form of ‘coming together’ that comes to an End due to One’s standing for something that they will not give up on because it is Right,
Moral or TRUE, even when those around don’t agree and criticize them for it…

After much thought about it I came to the conclusion that the SOMETHING in My Life that I stand for that is ‘Stronger than DEATH,’ in whatever form it may come in, is LOVE, TRUTH and INTEGRITY. No matter how others might tear apart what I might Write, Speak or Believe, I simply refuse, just like Jesus, Dr. King or anyone else that stood for SOMETHING, to back down off of it. And, just like Jesus and Dr. King, it is not
My TRUTH that I stand on or for, it is GOD’s TRUTH and that cannot be CHALLENGED, no matter what others Believe or say…

My Friend…My Reader, ‘What is it that You STAND for in Your Life that is ‘Stronger than DEATH?’’ If there is Nothing, give it some thought…Then STAND Up…And, You will no longer FEAR DEATH of any kind…

How Much?

How Much?

-‘What People Do For Money?’

                        -Divine Sounds (1984)

As I was riding along the other day this song came on the Radio and I really focused on the Words as the artist sang them, unlike back in 1984 when the song was played I was most likely break dancing or rapping along as the beat flowed from the speakers. Upon hearing the song this time, at the Young age of 40, I really listened to what was being said and the Words spoke to Me like they were saying, ‘Wow, Bishop! It’s interesting and at times Sad what many People will do for Money or things pertaining to Monetary or Material Gain…!’

As the car rolled along and Divine Sounds continued singing, ‘What People Do For Money?!’ and I sang along with the chorus, I began to think of ALL the things that People Do, Have Done or Will Do for Money and it simply caused Me to shake My head from side to side in a ‘NO!’ motion, as if someone had posed a question to Me that I was totally against. I thought of how some People will… ‘Step on others,’ ‘Degrade themselves,’ ‘Become somewhat of a Slave to another,’ ‘Bow down to another,’ ‘Allow themselves to be Abused,’ ‘Sell-Out,’ ‘Commit Murder,’ ‘Take part in Criminal Activity,’ ‘Steal from others,’ ‘Take part in an activity that they are Uncomfortable with’ and ‘Allow their Physical Selves to be taken advantage of,’ ALL to have Money, keep Money or be in the Midst of those with Money or Material.

Sing it with Me…’What People Do For Money?!’

I guess I just don’t understand why some People don’t think more of themselves by knowing their Personal Worth, which would keep them from doing ALL sorts of things for Monetary Gain. Many People simply allow their Morals and Integrity to ‘Fly Out of the Window’ when they feel that they might Lose out on obtaining Money or when they feel that they will Lose the source of their ‘Cash or Material Flow.’ I guess, too, that when so many People allow Things or Individuals outside of them to give them Worth, they have no other way to feel Valuable other than by DOING ANYTHING to feel that Value, even if it is subjecting themselves to Degradation.

My Friend…My Reader, think about it…’What Have You Done or What Would You Do For Money?’ Would You ‘Sell-Out?’ ‘Have You or Would You jeopardize Your Morals and Integrity?’ Or…’Do You know Your Self-Worth from the start?’

‘How Much?’ I hope that You don’t have a PRICE…

‘Well…Step Off Of The Stage!’

‘Well…Step Off Of The Stage!’

-‘I don’t Want any DRAMA in My Life…’

                                    -Various

‘SHHH…’ ‘Listen…’ So many Individuals make the PROCLAMATION, ‘I Don’t Want Any DRAMA In My Life!,’ but ALL in the same breath they are in the very Midst of the DRAMATICS, searching for a way to stir-up some DRAMATICS or ‘Just Down-Right DRAMATIC themselves!’ It’s interesting that We don’t Want or Like DRAMA in Our Lives but We can’t seem to Live without it.

A lot of individuals, if they seem to be in a place where things are Calm and Peaceful, tend to get this idea that
things need to be ‘shaken-up’ or they need to persuade DRAMA to come out of hiding to make themselves feel as if they are a part of something worthwhile. Whether through Gossip, Fabrication, Breaking a Trust, Causing some Pain or simply, Becoming a part of something that entails DRAMATICS. I have come to
notice that, those that make the PROCLAMATION,
‘I Don’t Want Any DRAMA In My Life!’ the most, are the Ones that actually LOVE DRAMA the most…Feeding off of it! Creating it wherever they go! Persuading
others to become a part of it!

‘Are You sure You don’t Want DRAMA in Your Life?’

If an individual doesn’t Want DRAMA in their Life, My question is, ‘Why don’t they just step off of the Stage?’ They continue to act out their part in the DRAMA, replaying the Scene of the Production or the Movie that they
PROCLAIM they don’t care to be a part of, over and over again so as to keep the DRAMATICS going in their Life, to feel like they are actually LIVING.

This to Me is ridiculous because… if the idea is for ‘One to Live a Life FREE of DRAMA but One has been Fooled into believing, therefore actually BELIEVING, that they have to have DRAMA in their Life to feel Alive or a part of something, all the while being DRAMATIC but PROCLAIMING that they ‘Don’t Want the DRAMA in their Life,’ …who is the LIE being told to?

Think about it?

DRAMA and DRAMATICS is for the Theatre…Stage and Screen and if One is not an Actor or Actress they should do ALL that they can to avoid DRAMA because it’s ‘No Good’ for anyone. The less DRAMA We have in Our Lives the less Stress and Worry We have to be concerned with even though We have been lead to Believe otherwise…

My Friend…My Reader…Are you One that can TRULY Proclaim, ‘I Don’t Want DRAMA In My Life?’

And, if You are…

‘Well…Step Off Of The Stage!’

Al B. Sharp VS Wild, Wild West

Al B. Sharp VS Wild, Wild West!

‘Obama shouldn’t have to lead a Civil Rights March against Himself…’

-Rev. Al Sharpton

BIG Words. LOUD Words. FRUSTRATED Words. CONSTERNATING Words. WORDS from two of the Most Influential African-American Voices in America today. As I viewed the video of their exchange on MSNBC, it
brought to mind how divided We are as a Country and definitely as a race. Rev. Sharpton has his ideas and Dr. West has his. Who’s to say which of these two Voices is right or wrong, neither of them is really, but it comes down to who made the most logical point.

Rev. Sharpton spoke on how We should not place the blame on President Obama for the job market and the unemployment rate because it is not his fault. President Obama does not regulate the jobs, the people that own the companies and corporations are the ones that regulate and have the POWER to stimulate the job market. As President, all that Obama can do is try to PERSUADE these individuals to create jobs and bring about job market STIMULATION. Rev. Sharpton also made a valid point when he said, ‘The People need to stand up and make their Voices heard to the individuals with POWER over these companies instead of continually pointing the
finger at and blaming President Obama…But the TRUTH is that they are SCARED to do that…And, ‘If the People are SCARED, say that they are SCARED…’ because blaming Obama isn’t going to bring about the results that We seek.’
I feel, as Rev. Sharpton feels, that, President Obama is doing his best to make sure that things are done EQUALLY across the board for ALL People, not any specific race or group because this Country and Nation is a place of many Cultures, Races and Peoples, and as President he has to STAND for ALL not ONE…

Dr. West had some valid points as well but I noticed that most of his statements were a bit RACIALLY CHARGED. I mean, I am ALL about STANDING up for Ones Race or what One believes but this is simply not a matter of Race, this is a matter of Humankind as a Whole, the BETTERMENT of everyone. The unemployment rate in not just affecting African-Americans but every Race, it does not DISCRIMINATE and We should see it as such. Yes, there are times when it seems as if President Obama should have stood his ground when it came to certain topics but turning this into a ‘BLACK THING’ or a ‘RACIAL THING’ is not what is needed right now. The statements that Dr. West had about, ‘Critiquing President Obama…’ and ‘The number of Blacks that have been pulled over by Police in NY…’ and ‘Worrying about Rev. Sharpton being manipulated by the White House and PlutoCrats…,’ discuss those topics in other venues but not in this one. This should not be turned into a situation of, ‘We NOW have a Black or African-American President so We, Blacks, as a Race should be receiving Our ’40ACRES and A MULE!’ Our ‘REPARATIONS!’ And…Honestly, if We got them what would We do with them if We are IGNORANT of what to do with what We have been Blessed with at Present. Another thing is, ‘If ALL One wants is a Mule and some Acreage, their Goals and Aspirations are pretty Minimal!’

Both Rev. Sharpton and Dr. West have and continue to make Great contributions to Our Society, Country and the African-American Race through their beliefs and what they STAND for, and I ADMIRE and gain INSPIRATION from them both but with the topic or issue being unemployment and job market stimulation, the idea or job is to get Our Country not simply ‘Back On Track’ but on ‘The BEST Track its Ever Travelled ON,’ bringing about jobs and employment for ALL…EQUALLY…And, we will only achieve this feat by PERSUADING the People with the POWER over job market stimulation and not by Blaming or Pointing the Finger at Our President…

My Friend…My Reader…President Obama isn’t PERFECT and He’s doing what He can with the tools He’s provided…

Like Rev. Sharpton said, ‘Why should President Obama lead a Civil Rights March against Himself?’

‘Rev. Sharpton and Dr. West…Thank You both for the Words and the Inspiration. The work that You do is Priceless, Appreciated and Admirable.’

WHAT?

WHAT?

-‘Sometimes LOVE isn’t Enough…’

-Various Voices

‘And now I will show You the Most Excellent way. If I speak in the tongues of Men and of Angels, but have not LOVE, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom ALL mysteries and ALL knowledge, and if I have FAITH that can move Mountains, but have not LOVE, I am nothing. If I give ALL that I
possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not LOVE, I gain nothing…

LOVE is Patient, LOVE is Kind. It does not Envy, it does not Boast, it is not Proud. It is not Rude, it is not Self-Seeking, it is not easily Angered, it keeps no record of Wrongs. LOVE does not Delight in Evil but rejoices with the TRUTH. It Always Protects, Always Trusts, Always Hopes, Always Perseveres…

LOVE NEVER FAILS!

And now these three remain: FAITH, HOPE and LOVE. But the Greatest of these is LOVE…’
1 Corinthians 13: 1-7 & 13

And, they say that ‘Sometimes LOVE isn’t Enough…,’ I beg to differ and I fail to believe that LOVE isn’t Enough, no matter the circumstance or situation, because…

It’s LOVE that Created Us. It’s LOVE that brought Us through. It’s LOVE that wakes Us up every day. It’s LOVE that allows Us to be Forgiven. It’s LOVE that compels Us to reach out to others that need a helping Hand. It’s LOVE that causes Us to feel for those going through trials. It’s LOVE that keeps Us Hoping for and Knowing that there is ‘Something Better.’ It’s LOVE that keeps GOD mindful of Us. It’s LOVE that delivered Jesus
to Us, GOD in the form of Man, to be a ‘Living Example’ of how We should live. It’s LOVE that hung upon the Cross and became SIN itself, to save Us from Hell. It’s LOVE that keeps GOD from destroying this World of Ours and HIS giving us ‘Chance after Chance’ to get it right, by turning to HIM. It’s LOVE that Defeats Evil each and every time, bringing the Light to the Darkness…

No matter how You see things or what You believe, if You simply take a Moment and look beyond the LIE, You will see that it’s ALL LOVE…The Greatest of them ALL! The ONLY thing there Truly is! The ONLY thing We should be living for…

My Friend…My Reader…The ONLY time that LOVE isn’t Enough is if One is Selfish, they have Fallen for the LIE of Man or if One is in LOVE with the World…

‘LOVE is Always Enough…Ask GOD.’
