The TRUTH…Nobody’s Listening!

The TRUTH…Nobody’s Listening!

-‘The TRUTH…You can’t handle the TRUTH…’

-Jack Nicholson ‘A Few Good Men’

-‘…You don’t want to hear the TRUTH…So, I’m going to LIE to You…Make it sound Fly to You…’

-Ceelo Green/Goodie Mob

-‘Talk to You so Clearly but You don’t Want to Hear Me…Tried to give You WARNING but You just Ignore Me…But, Nobody’s Listening…’

-Linkin Park ‘Nobody’s Listening’

The TRUTH…Everyone says that they don’t want to be LIED to and that they ONLY want to hear the TRUTH but when You try to offer them the TRUTH they get upset or bent out of shape, ‘TOES STEPPED ON,’ and would rather hear the LIE that they have fallen for for so long. Its time to tell and hear the TRUTH, eventhough its DANGEROUS to tell the TRUTH sometime and most of the time the One telling the TRUTH is ‘quieted,’ but the ‘Telling of the TRUTH’ is the ONLY thing that is going to FREE Us ALL…

Shallow…

Shallow…

‘Inner BEAUTY is important but not nearly as important as outer BEAUTY.’

-Ellen Degeneres ‘Cover Girl Commercial’

Watching the progression of the initialization of the OWN Network this Morning, the Cover Girl commercial with Ellen Degeneres came on and she proclaimed…’Inner BEAUTY is important but not nearly important as outer BEAUTY.’ When I heard this, I was in SHOCK and said to Myself, ‘What the #@*$! What is Cover Girl thinking? Is this the message they want to send out to Women and Men alike, about what’s important as we interact and engage with each other in society?’ Again…another SAD Case for Society!

As I think about this commercial, I can’t help but to think about ALL of the messages out there today that are being thrown in our faces daily through television, print and radio about surface BEAUTY being the thing that we should be focused on and not our INNER BEAUTY, making us ALL the same to a certain extent and causing us to be Robots or Copies of each other. (Just call it the ‘Kinko’s Syndrome) These ads continue to send out the wrong messages to us ALL, causing insecurity, low self-esteem and a lack of confidence in most of us that pay attention to them, causing FEAR in us, saying to us that, ‘…if you don’t LOOK this way or if you don’t match Society’s idea of BEAUTY, you are an outcast or you aren’t BEAUTIFUL…’ This is utter BS!

Not only is this message sent out in commercials like the Cover Girl commercial but it’s sent out in MOST ads we see today. From automobile ads, to chewing gum ads, to soda pop ads, ads selling water, even books. Through these ads it is projected that if you don’t drive this or if you don’t chew this or if you don’t drink this…to if you don’t read this, you are not BEAUTIFUL and if you want to be BEAUTIFUL, you best do like Society says and get with it. I hate this because we are ALL different and we are not supposed to be the same or have the same things and we are definitely not supposed to project our BEAUTY in the same way. People…let’s not fall for this Lie, this FICTION…

No matter what Society proclaims through its ads, don’t allow any of it to tell you and have you believe that you are not BEAUTIFUL because you don’t match its ideal of BEAUTY. You are already BEAUTIFUL, My Friend and Cover Girl nor anyone else has anything to do with it. And to those that fall for the BS…’I hope that you gain some TRUE Confidence and be your TRUE Self not what Society tells you to be.’ Whether it’s Ellen speaking or anyone else…

 ‘I’M BEAUTIFUL! YOU ARE TOO!”

(Oh…And, Ellen…You’re Cool with Me…)

‘…You’re Different?!’

One of the Best compliments I’ve received in life is someone coming up to Me and saying, ‘Patrick…You’re different?!’ I LOVE that! It lets Me know that I am being Me and not trying to imitate anyone else. It lets Me know that I am an ORIGINAL. UNIQUE… Especially, in this World where every ideal in Society is trying its best to make Us ALL the same. ‘Man is the only creation AFRAID of being who he is.’

That Childhood Magic…

That Childhood Magic…

“All My Friends…Are longing for the Warmth of Childhood to bring ‘em Home again…”

                                                                        -Amos Lee  ‘All My Friends’

I have pondered this for quite a while now and during Great conversation with that Special Woman in My Life on yesterday the topic came up once again. We were discussing the ‘heat’ and ‘humidity’ of the Summer and wondering why as Children we were able to play outside ALL day long and never give any thought to how HOT or humid it was. As children, we were ALL too Happy to be outside, able to run free and be with our friends doing what we LOVED most, PLAYING but as we grew older, from children to teens to adults the ‘heat’ and the ‘humidity’ became more apparent to us and we somehow lost that ‘magic’ of being a Child, playing and being totally free and began to realize how HOT it was outside and simply gave up on having Fun and really enjoying life.

I think about the above and I notice that it is not only the ‘Magic of Playing’ that we as adults have lost in our ADULTNESS but a lot of us have lost the ‘Magic of Childhood’ in every area of our lives. We have become adults and we feel that we have had to put ALL child-like things behind, bury them in the ground as if they are deceased but we should hold on to as much of our ‘CHILDLIKENESS’ as we can so as not to forget how to play, how to live free, how to enjoy life with no worries of what others will think of Us, so as not to live in FEAR.

If we sit back and watch children and how they operate we would learn so much from them and also be reminded of what we gave up or left behind to become Adults. I watch how children play and use their imaginations, becoming anything that they want to be in their minds, having FUN the entire time, having no thoughts of what others think about them or how foolish they may look, it’s ALL about the moment and enjoying it to the fullest extent. I watch how children interact with one another when they meet or come into contact with each other. There is no sizing up of the other. There is no wondering of what the other child’s motives are. There is no stand-offish attitude. There is only, ‘Let’s be friends! Let’s play! Let’s have FUN together!’ And after their play is done they continue to be Friends.

I feel that we as adults should re-adopt these ‘CHILD-LIKE’ ways or ideals and allow ourselves to be open enough to enjoy life and be free again. Whether we admit it or not, most of what we do as adults is only a seeking for that ‘Childhood Magic’ that we left behind. All of the ‘things’ that we gather for ourselves to be accepted by others, all of the accolades that we garner to be acknowledged by others, all of the intelligence or ‘smarts’ that we gain, are ALL a seeking for that ‘Childhood Magic.’

If we look back, as children we did not need any of those things to be accepted or feel like we would be accepted or to accept others. All we needed or had to offer was the ability or the freedom to want to ‘play’ and have ‘fun’ with other children and life was GREAT!

GOD is sending messages through the children for us to pick up on so that we as adults will remember the way we are supposed to enjoy and live our lives and remind us of what we were placed here for in the first place, to remind us of how we should not take life so seriously, how we should always take time to PLAY, use our Imaginations, DREAM huge DREAMS, LOVE openly and definitely have ‘CHILD-LIKE FAITH!’

Adults…Let’s be Adults but let’s not lose the ‘Magic of Childhood’ in the process. The Children have the Magic and they know the Secret…Watch them. You will learn…

Smile Lines…It’s All Natural Process…

Smile Lines…It’s All Natural Process…

“I wanna be Old and Gray when GOD come get Me…”

                                                                -Ceelo ‘GoodieMob’ Green

Growing Old…I’m sorry…Correction. ‘Growing OLDER,’ is something that we should ALL embrace and see as a gift and a Blessing from GOD. It is GOD’s gift to us and HIS telling us that HE has more work for us to do in this World and that HE wants us around to educate and teach those generations following us. Growing OLDER is our mark of Wisdom and our ‘seasoning’ that GOD prints upon us to show that we have been here for awhile and that we are not to be reckoned with. Growing OLDER is a ‘Tattoo of LOVE.’

The lines printed upon our faces like maps drawn by Men, the Graying of our hair like paths through the Forests, the Words of Wisdom that we speak that may be foreign to the Youth, the Ideals that we take on that we never Dreamed we would, the ways that we move as we grow OLDER, are ALL gifts and should be seen as such. I witness a majority of humans not embracing their gift of aging as they color their hair…As they have surgery done to remove the lines in their faces…As they dress in a way that is years younger than they are…As they try their BEST to stay young or to hide their true age. Now, to each his or her own, and there is nothing wrong with doing those things, but I feel that GOD meant for us to appreciate our Growing OLDER, our aging and to feel confident and comfortable with it, not to hide it or be ashamed of it. Some of us sit back and say how much we want to live a long life but as GOD grants us those long years and allows us to age we sort of ‘throw it back in HIS face’ by trying to cover it up, by doing things to keep ourselves looking young.

It’s true that in today’s Society, especially in America, that Growing OLDER is not seen as Glamorous, or Beautiful, or Welcomed, or even as ‘A Good Thing.’ Youth and staying Young are the status quo in our World. How sad, because GOD created us to be Young at the beginning of our lives and to Grow OLDER as our years progressed and with that progression of our years, to embrace it fully.

There are countries and Cultures that see Growing OLDER as a Beautiful thing and that the OLDER individuals are Sacred and due total respect because of their experiences in life and their Seasoning, where Growing OLDER is welcomed and looked forward to. We should ALL see it as such and LOVE not only the idea of it but the image of it as well. We should see our facial lines as gifts, our Gray-Streaked hair as Blessings, our Wisdom as GOD’s mark of Genius.

I LOVE Growing OLDER and I embrace it. I see it as Beautiful, Romantic and Sexy. As we Grow OLDER, let’s do ALL that we can to stay healthy and stay around as long as possible but let’s embrace our years of life with confidence and see them as a Gift from GOD, seeing the True BEAUTY in it.

I hope that You Grow OLDER…Gracefully and with Courage.
